Ice Cream Sandwiches Recipe

As you’re probably aware, it gets really hot here in Vegas.  If you’ve never been, let me explain just what hot is:

-Hot is 118 degrees by noon.

-Hot is 90 degrees when you walk out in the morning to grab the paper.

-Hot is not wanting to go anywhere, but when you DO go somewhere, you burn your hand trying to open the door to the store you were going to.

-It get’s so hot that it’s not uncommon to see a fire hydrant chasing a pack of dogs. (DAD JOKE!)

(maybe the last one isn’t true, but you get the idea.)

Easy Ice Cream Sandwiches

 History

We’ve learned that you have to start your day early. If not, we just won’t go anywhere at all.  Those types of days are perfect for a little cooking project with the Double Trouble Duo. What better treat to make than a dish that’s been fighting the heat since 1899!

The ice cream sandwich was created in 1899 by an unknown pushcart peddler in the Bowery neighborhood of New York City.  These sandwiches consisted of vanilla ice cream pressed between two thin graham wafers.  The treat was revolutionary not only because it was hand-held and portable, but also because the heat from the hands helped to soften the ice cream, making it easier to eat. – Sugar and Snow: A History of Ice Cream Making by Jeri Quinzio

Ice cream sandwiches are super easy to make (which you can see from the video). They are also a lot fun because there are so many options.  Between different cookies, ice creams, and sprinkles, the possibilities are endless!

Check out the fun video below and then grab some Ice Cream and give it a try! Feel free to check out some of our other ice cream ideas as well, and see why we think eating ice cream fast is a sign of manhood.

Oh, and make sure you share this post with a friend who could use a cool treat this summer to beat the heat!
