June Innovative Father Award

There are innovative fathers all around us. They may not be putting a man on the moon or curing cancer, but they are solving other issues that you and I may have on a daily basis!

The Box Fan Hack

A great example of this is Brad Hyman, from Sunnyside, NY.  What issue was he looking to solve?  One that all parents are concerned about.  The safety of his family. In this case, daughter, Harley (3).

Summer heat in New York can get brutal, and an extra fan here and there is always a plus.  Sometimes people even fall asleep to the monotonous drone of the turning blades in the background.  How do you reap the benefits of having a standard box fan in your home without putting little fingers at risk? Brad figured it out. Innovative Father that he is, he disassembled the fan, and simply inserted a piece of window screening.

Usually all it takes is a few screws to open up your fan. Make sure it is turned off, and unplugged when you do this.

Even if little fingers get in, all they do is push the screen against the fan blades. (and make a little noise) No damage done.

Now Brad keeps his family cool, and his daughter’s fingers safe and sound from the turning blades of the fan.

Brad, we raise our glass and salute you!  Keep an eye on your mailbox for your prize from Fathers of Multiples for being an innovative father.  You’re aces in our book!
